VAMC Chiller Plant Construction

The San Francisco Veterans Affairs Medical Center required the replacement of its outdated chill water system while the hospital remained fully operational. The project was carried out on the rooftops of Building 200 and Building 2, which were four and six stories high, respectively. GSE performed all outages and tie-ins during early mornings, nights, and weekends to avoid disrupting active hospital operations. The most unique and challenging aspect of the project was the use of large cranes to hoist materials and equipment on and off the rooftops of the two buildings. Despite these challenges, GSE completed the project successfully and on time.
